IGP reviews security arrangements for I-Day in Jammu

The Inspector General of Police today reviewed security arrangements in the city in connection with Independence Day celebrations.
A joint meeting of senior officers of various security agencies, including intelligence, traffic and civil administration, was convened by IGP (Jammu Zone) Rajesh Kumar at the Zonal Police Headquarters here, a police spokesman said.
The meeting was held to discuss various security measures in the run up to August 15 and take stock of the progress of security and other allied arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebrations and upcoming festivals of Raksha Bandhan, Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Yatra and Janamashtami, the spokesman said.
Besides detailed assessment by state and Central intelligence agencies, DIG (Jammu-Kathua Range) Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SSP Traffic, SSP Jammu and SSP Security gave a detailed account of the security arrangements that have been put in place in and around Jammu including border areas.
They also briefed about the police, security and traffic arrangements being proposed to be made for Independence Day celebrations, he said.
Similarly, the officers of civil administration gave a detailed account of the arrangements put in place for I-Day celebrations.

Detailed deliberations were held on all points concerning parade contingents, preparation of the venue, anti-sabotage checks of the venues, barricading, traffic arrangements, fire services and medical facilities for the celebrations.
While expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, the IGP asked officers to work in coordination with each other.
He asked the intelligence agencies, police and security forces to step up vigil and security in the district to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and forestall any ill-conceived plan of terrorists.
Later, the IGP interacted with all district SSPs of Jammu region through video conferencing and reviewed their preparedness in the run up to August 15.
