The top brass of the state police and BSF Tuesday called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik separately and apprised him of the internal security situation of the Valley.
Kashmir Inspector general of Police S P Pani met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and briefed him about the security scenario in the Valley, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
He said the Governor advised the IGP to have close surveillance on all fronts.
The Governor asked the IGP to ensure that the forces play a "prompt and pro-active role" in solving the problems of the people at large, the spokesman said.
He said the IGP's meeting with the Governor was followed by BSF Inspector General Sonali Mishra's meeting.
Mishra too apprised the Governor of the security situation in her jurisdiction.

She apprised Malik about the role and responsibilities of the BSF during the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra which concluded recently, the spokesman said.
He said the Governor lauded the BSF's role in smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra year after year and advised her to ensure enhanced surveillance along the borders.
He also advised her taking stringent measures to enforce counter-infiltration grid during the ensuing winter, besides taking steps for welfare of the BSF personnel, engaged in difficult duties.
