Four other 2nd-year students were asked by the IIEST authorities to leave the campus and were suspended from academic activities till further notice.
Five more students of the second year have been expelled from the hostel facility of the institute after charges of ragging against them were established by the institute's anti-ragging committee, which met today.
According to IIEST Dean of Students' Affairs Nitai Chandra Dey, all 10 second-year students were found guilty of ragging a first-year student on August 2 and 4, and the student had approached the authorities with his complaint.
The victim was also cautioned by the committee members for not adhering to the institute's rules and regulations and for furnishing sketchy details about his torment.
