"The patent has been granted for the process of preparing Acetamiprid, an insecticide for sucking pests," the company said in a statement today. It was awarded by the Indian Patent Office.
Insecticides (India) said it has filed for process patents for eight chemical compounds, including Acetamiprid.
"We had filed for the patent with India's Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks for process of preparation for Acetamiprid technical in 2005," Managing Director Rajesh Aggarwal said in the statement.
The company has formulation facilities in Chopanki in Rajasthan, Samba and Udhampur in Jammu & Kashmir and Dahej in Gujarat. It also has plants at Chopanki and Dahej to manufacture technical grade chemicals.
Shares of the company rose 0.71 per cent to Rs 247.45 at the close on the BSE yesterday.
Insecticides (India) recently tied up with Japan-based Otsuka AgriTechno Co. To set up a joint venture for research and development of new agrochemical molecules.
