"IIMC recently signed two international coopration agreements, one with the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, and another with University Mayor in Santiago, Chile," Bimal Julka, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ministry, said while addressing the 46th annual convocation ceremony of the institute here.
Julka, who is also the Chairman of IIMC, said the premier institue would encourage full cooperation for collaboration with their foreign partners.
"We will hold fruitful cooperation in terms of faculty excahnge and undertaking joint research projects as well as student exchanges once the two-year Masters degree programme are launched at IIMC," he said.
Julka also reiterated the government's idea to grant IIMC the status of 'Institute of national importance' and bringing it on par with IITs and IIMs.
The possibility of cooperation in short-term training programme for officers of Indian Information Service (IIS) was also being explored, he added.
A total of 306 students from the six centres, New Delhi, Jammu, Dhenkanal, Aizwal, Amravati and Kottayam, were conferred Post-graduate Diploma at the convocation.
