IIPP awards announced

Three social activists from
the city have been chosen for this year's 'Outstanding Community Leaders of Mangaluru' Award by International Institute for Public Policy (IIPP).
Fr Ronnie Prabhu, Sachitha Nandagopal and Joe Gonsalves were selected for the award in recognition of their selfless service to humanity and consistent work for public causes, a release here said.
Fr Ronnie Prabhu had contributed to the society in different areas of life including education, counselling, administration, inter-religious harmony and leadership training.
Sachitha Nandagopal heads the Centre for Integrated Learning, a non-governmental organisation here, while Joe Gonsalves had served on the board of Father Muller Hospital for 15 years and the Catholic Board of Education.
The IIPP is an international organisation based in Mangaluru for the cause of policy implementation for public good.

The announcement of the award is made every year on the eve of Independence Day by Max and Jessie Rasquinha, Texas, USA, founders of International Institute for Public Policy.
Max, who is a Mangaluru native based in Texas, had been supporting all the socially relevant activities in his hometown though he had been settled abroad for more than 50 years.
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 50,000, citation and crystal mementoes would be presented at a function to be held here later this year, the release said.
