A roundtable was conducted Thursday at IIT-M campus as as part of the project 'Enabling prefabricated construction to improve mass housing delivery in India and Australia', which brought together key stakeholders from industry, academia and governments of India and Australia.

The project is funded by Australia-India Council of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Australia, the statement said.

University of Technology-Sydney professor Sidney Newton said "Unprecedented demand for low-cost housing in India is driving fundamental change in how the construction industry is managed.

This event will prove pivotal in directing and enabling new innovations," he added.
