Courses in innovation and inter-disciplinary programmes spanning departments would be offered by the innovation centre leading to product designs.
The centre has got the nod of the HRD Ministry and it is extending asisance of Rs 25 crore, IIT Delhi director R K Shevgaonkar told reporters here.
Talking about the meta-university concept in which IIT Delhi is also a partner along with Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, he said they are are still in the process of chalking out the modalities.
Meta university enables a student pursue cross disciplinary programme simultaneously.
"The details of the project are being worked out and we are in talks with JNU for collaborative research work in the areas of public health, climate change and education," he said.
Jamia and DU have already announced the admission for the first course under meta-university concept in 'master of Mathematics Education'.

About 1786 pass-outs, of whom 199 are Ph.D holders will attend it.
