The chief minister in a high-level meeting also reviewed the work of the off-campuses of the IIT and IIM in Kashmir, the NIT in Srinagar and the government colleges of engineering and technology at Jammu, Kathua and Safapore, an official spokesman said.
Ministers Syed Altaf Bukhari and Priya Sethi were also present in the meeting.
Mehbooba underscored the need for early completion of works on these projects so that the students get the benefits of these educational institutes at the earliest.
The chief minister urged the managements of these institutes to undertake quality research activities, besides routine academic works, to make them independent in terms of academic activities, the spokesman said.

She was informed that IIT-Jammu had started functioning from a transit accommodation with seven disciplines and 120 students, he said, adding that it is expected that there would be 220 faculty and staff members, and 1,260 students by 2020 at the institute.
The IIM-Jammu has been operationalised with two batches, the chief minister was informed, the spokesman said.
