Illegal casino busted in trans-Yamuna

Cracking down against illegal gambling dens and casinos operating in trans-Yamuna area, local police with the help of two undercover constables arrested a caretaker of a casino running at Old Seelampur and recovered cash and illicit liquor from there.
A casino stock being used for gambling was also recovered from the illegal gambling den located in a street of Old Seelampur in Gandhi Nagar, said Nupur Prasad, DCP(Shahdara).
Police had inputs about a casino being run from the house located in Old Seelampur. Two constables, Kuldeep and Amit, working undercover approached the casino as decoy customers where they were asked to gamble with Rs 400 for winning 10 times money and also offered illicit liquor at inflated price.
Later, constable tipped the raiding police party who barged into the premises and caught alleged caretaker of the casino, Sameer, 21, yesterday evening, she said.
A search was undertaken and casino stock used for gambling, 34 quarter bottles of liquor, and a cash amount of Rs 2,421 was recovered, she said.
The casino had facility for playing different kinds of games with minimum amount to be put on bet being Rs 10. The winners carried 10 times the amount gambled by them. 10 boards were fixed there for gambling.

During interrogation, accused Sameer revealed that the casino was owned by one Akash who is absconding. It was also revealed during interrogation that duo Lalu and Kalu, now aged around 60, were active in Gandhi Nagar area running illegal gambling dens.
Kalu who was father of absconding Akash was caught by police and externed after which his son started running the casino with the help of Sameer, police said.
This is second casino police has claimed to have busted this month.
Earlier, an online casino was busted with the arrest of five persons and Rs 24,700 in cash seized at Krishna Nagar on January 11.
