The Delhi High Court has sought the responses of the city police and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on a PIL alleging largescale unauthorised construction in the Freedom Fighters Enclave here.
A bench of justices B D Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva issued notice to SDMC and Delhi Police seeking their replies on the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by an NGO which has sought complete demolition of the illegal structures as well as action against those who carried it out.
The bench, however, did not issue notice on the NGO's additional prayer for registration of FIRs against officials concerned of the SDMC and Delhi Police, who had allegedly permitted the illegal constructions which came up despite orders of the court restraining it.
The PIL, by NGO Paardarshita Public Welfare Foundation, has alleged that the largescale illegal construction was going on in the Freedom Fighters Enclave in Neb Sarai here and was being carried out "with the deep connivance of officials of SDMC as well as police officials of the area with the builder mafia".
