Illegal liquor worth Rs 25 lakh seized from panchayat building

As many as 770 cartons of illegal liquor worth around Rs 25 lakh were found in a panachayat building in Makna village of Kanpur Dehat district, police said today.
The building is in the illegal possession of some persons of the village, said Kanpur Dehat police spokesman.
Yesterday evening, police got a tip-off that some illegal item was kept in the building, after which a raid was carried out.
The seized liquor has been brought from other states, he said.
It has been learnt that there is a gang active here which brings cheaper liquor from other states and sells it to shops here, he said.

Police are trying to find details of the gang.
Some persons have been questioned on the basis of suspicion, but no arrest has been made so far, he said.
