Goa police has accused Sameer Salgaoncar and his brother Arjun, both directors of a private firm, of indulging in illegal mining in its charge sheet filed against the duo in special court here today.
The 800-page charge sheet was filed against the brothers duo by the Special Investigation Team probing the cases related to illegal mining.
Sameer and Arjun Salgaoncar, Directors of Kantilal and Company Private Limited, were granted anticipatory bail on October 9, 2015.
They were arrested last week and released.
The case was registered against them on September 15, 2014 following a complaint by the Director of Mines and Geology, Prasanna Acharya.
As per the complaint, the accused, along with former Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao and others, illegally extracted iron ore at Asni Dongar, Curdi and Kurpem in Sanguem taluka between 2006 and 2011.
SIT, however, has dropped Alemao from the list of accused.
Salgaoncar brothers are charged under various sections of Mineral Concession Rules, 1960 along with Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
