Acting on the recommendations of the Archaeology Department of Uttar Pradesh, district authorities have directed police to demolish an illegal structure being constructed by a man close to the heritage memorial of the Bharatpur dynasty.
It is alleged that Ashu Sharma of Goverdhan town has illegally constructed the structure near the heritage palace of the Bharatpur dynasty on Parikrama road here.
Archaeology Department official Rupesh Sharma, who looks after the memorials, had written a letter to the directorate of the state archaeology department in Lucknow after which its director Suryamani Lalchand instructed the district authorities to take appropriate action.
District Magistrate Nikhil Chand Shukla then asked Senior Superintendent of Police Babloo Singh to raze the structure.
According to the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, permission is required before initiating any construction activity near a heritage building.
