Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said illegal trade of meat will not be allowed in the state.
The government is giving license and traders can apply for it online, an official release said quoting the chief minister.
License-holders only can trade in meat as per rules. The Act, which bans animals from slaughter and sale of their meat, will remain in force strictly, he said at a meeting with senior officials of the state.
The chief minister said meat traders are not aware of taking license and they should be made aware of it.
He directed to construct slaughter houses along with treatment plants at the earliest and outsource them, which will stop illegal trade of meat, the release said.
Additional chief secretary Sudhir Tripathi said so far 7,333 online licenses have been given to meat traders.
Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, urban development department Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Singh and Ranchi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Santanu Agrahari were present at the meeting, the release added.
