Illegally collected forest produce recovered in Jammu

The forest department in Jammu today recovered over 340 kg of illegally collected forest produce during a raid in Kanak Mandi, a spokesman said.
He said that the forest department official raided the premises of M/S Ved Parkash and Brothers (Amit Trading) located at Kanak Mandi Jammu and recovered large quantity of forest produce.
The seized forest produce included Nag Chatri (Trillium govanianum) 6 kg, Guchi (Morchella esculenta) 13 kg, Banfasha (Viola odorata) 311 kg, Kaker Singhi 4.63 kg and other forest produces 12.17 kg, he said.
This is for the first time that Forest Department had conducted a search operation in the shop located in Kanak Mandi, he added.
"The operation was successful where a total of 346 kg of forest produce was seized by the forest staff. The estimated value of the seized forest produce is approximately Rs 6 lakh" he said.
He said that a case under various sections of the J&K Forest Act has been registered against the accused.
