IMFL worth 50 lakh seized in MP

As many as 1,000 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 50 lakh, being transported to Gujarat, were seized from Malthuan area near here.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and regional transport department officials impounded a truck containing around 9,300 litres of IMFL yesterday, Inspector General of Police, Sagar Range, Pankaj Shrivastava said.
The vehicle was on its way to Gujarat from Haryana and had passed through Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh after dodging police to reach MP, he said.
The truck driver, identified as Vijay Soni, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Excise Act.
Soni had told police that he was supposed to drive the truck to MP's Dhar district from where the IMFL was to be carted to Gujarat, the IG said, adding, that a probe was underway in the case.
