A joint group of the officials of the two countries met here and also decided to explore the possibilities of introducing airlines-type baggage booking by a working group of field officers.
"It was also agreed that the passenger amenities at the two border stations like Gede (India) and Darsana (Bangladesh) would be improved," said an official statement here after the first meeting of the empowered joint group.
The meeting also decided that efforts would be made to reduce the running time in both the countries, the statement said.
The joint group was set up to suggest measures to ease travel by bi-weekly Maitree Express introduced in April, 2008.
The Indian delegation at the meeting was led by Additional Member (Traffic), Railway Board, D P Pande while the Bangladesh team was led by Additional Director General (operations) Md. Shahjahan of Bangladesh Railways.
