"Bihar is the only state in the country which has mooted agriculture roadmap and set up an agriculture Cabinet to give added thrust to the farm sector," Singh said in the state Assembly.
Responding to the opposition BJP members' barbs during his speech, Singh said that Bihar has won several awards at the national level and they were not won by mere rhetorics, but the central government officials took first-hand stock of achievements of the states' in farm sector before making recommendations.
Apparently taking the battle to the BJP camp, Singh urged the opposition to use its influence with the Narendra Modi government to scrap the seeds bill and provide Rs 1000cr assistance to all the states in the eastern region for ushering in the second green revolution.
Meanwhile, the agriculture department's receipts and plan/non-plan expenditure for current fiscal was passed with voice vote by the House soon after the opposition BJP staged a Walk Out expressing dissatisfaction with the Singh's reply.
The House also rejected cut motion introduced by the senior BJP MLA Vikram Kunwar seeking reduction of agriculture department's budget by Rs 10.
