Important establishments being shifted out of Maha: Shiv Sena
Press Trust of India Mumbai In what could be a flash-point between the allies, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra industries minister Subhash Desai has accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of planning to shift some important offices outside the state.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Desai has alleged that the Centre plans to move the office of Controller of General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks from Wadala here to New Delhi, and the National Marine Police Academy from neighbouring Palghar to Dwarka in Gujarat.
"One of the under-secretaries in the Central government issued an order letter on February 18, 2015, saying that Controller of General Patents, Design and Trademark office is to shift to Delhi.
"Mumbai is the financial capital of the country and there are several offices of international companies here and this head office is convenient to the industry in Mumbai, Maharashtra and the western region to register patents, design and trademarks. Therefore it should remain in the city," an official from the industries department quoted Desai as saying in the letter.
"The Centre had earlier planned to set up a national security guard hub and a national marine police academy in the state and demarcated 305 acres of land in Palghar district. The government had also initiated land acquisition process," the official said.
Desai has written that Dwarka would not be an appropriate location for these institutions as it is farther from coastal Kerala and Karnataka, he added.
