According to an official statement, the total water available in the said 91 reservoirs as on August 20 was 91.073 BCM, which is 58 per cent of the total storage capacity of these reservoirs.
The level at present is at 88 per cent of the storage of corresponding period of last year and 92 per cent of storage of average of last 10 years.
"The present storage position during current year is better than the storage position of last year and is also better than the storage average of last 10 years," it said.
States having lower storage than the last year for the corresponding period are Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana (two combined project in both states), Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the statement added.
