"Mega-projects have been started in rural pockets of the state to upgrade the infrastructure there and address the aspirations of those living in far-flung and hilly terrains," Chand said.

With a focused attention, the state government has launched several projects to provide better roads, power and water supply, health and education facilities to people in rural belts, he said.

Chand said the ambitious project for channelising Chenab waters has been under consideration and detailed project report for the multi-crore scheme is being prepared.

Once the project gets underway, the major demands of the people of the area would be addressed, he added.
