In the plains, moderate to heavy rainfall lashed Punjab
Press Trust of Indiaand Haryana for the second consecutive day even as minimum temperature hovered above normal in the region. Chandigarh, the capital of both the states, received 7 mm of rains last night with the minimum temperature settling at 11.4 degrees C, two notches above the normal. Panchkula, Kalka, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Sonepat were among other places in Haryana to be lashed by rains. Meanwhile, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala were some of the places in Punjab to be drenched by heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rainfall occurred in parts of Uttar Pradesh with the Ballia district reording the lowest temperature at 5.5 degree Celsius. Muzaffaranagar received 5 cm rainfall while Varanasi and Bahraich got 4 cm each. Light to moderate rainfall were reported in several parts of desert state of Rajasthan with Pilani recording a maximum of 46.6 mm rains.
