Incessant rain in North Bihar brings back flood threat

Incessant rain in North Bihar resulting in increase in water level of Ganga has brought back the threat of flood in some districts even as official reports said today that one person has died in the fresh spell of inundation in parts of the state.
Flood which had engulfed 14 districts of Bihar mainly due to excessive rains in terai region of Nepal resulting in death of nearly 100 persons, had subsided and for past three days officially, no district was under flood.
But, today's statement from state Disaster Management Department said Munger district was affected by flood.
It said one person had died in fresh flood condition in the state.
One relief camp has started functioning, catering to the need of 300 displaced population, it said.
River Ganga flew above danger level at Digha ghat, Gandhi ghat, Hathidah in Patna, Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur, Punpun river in Sripalpur, Budhi Gandak in Khagaria and Kosi in Baltara in Khagaria district.
Due to rise in water levels in Ganga, water has entered in riverine areas of Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Munger, Saran and Vaishali district.
NDRF personnel have been told to be on alert.
