A well-marked low pressure area lay over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, according to met department sources.
It might concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours, the sources said.
Under its influence, heavy rain at a few places with very heavy rain at isolated places might occur over Gangetic West Bengal during the next 48 hours.
Strong north to northeasterly wind speed between 45 and 55 kmph and rough to very rough seas were likely along and off the West Bengal coast, the sources said.

Several important streets of the metropolis were waterlogged, while traffic snarls at important junctions and thoroughfares were reported.
Office-goers and students had a tough time reaching their destinations.
