Several incriminating documents, including blank fitness and medical certificates having seals of senior resident doctors, have been recovered from the possession of an attendant working at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
An enquiry into the recovery of these documents has been initiated against the attendant, identified as Rajesh Kumar, by the authorities, a top AIIMS official said.
"Kumar is absconding and he has been suspended. An FIR against him will be lodged soon," the official said.
As per the complaint given to the Chief Vigilance Officer, a reference was received from Dr R K Chadda, Professor and Acting Head, Department of Psychiatry regarding the details of the documents found after opening the locker of Kumar who was deployed as an attendent in the OPD of Psychiatry.
"He informed that locker of Rajesh Kumar posted in Psychiatry was sealed on July 4 after he had been absenting from his duties and alleged recovery of forged medical certificate from his possession.
"The locker was opened on July 21 in presence of duty officer, security officials and OPD staff and a number of documents were found.
"...It is relevant to mention here that earlier Dr Chadda has forwarded a copy of forged medical certificate, brought by Anil Kumar and Ram Kishan from Psychiatry OPD to the Vigilance cell...From the above and having gone through the list of documents found in the locker of Kumar, there is every possibility that he was involved in making of forged medical certificate and other illegal activities. Such act of Kumar, prima facie appears in violation of CCS (Conduct) Rules,1964," the complaint by the AIIMS Deputy chief security officer dated July 27 said.
Director of AIIMS was informed and Deputy Chief Security Officer, R S Rawat, has been asked to lodge an FIR with the police authorities for further investigation on the issue.
