Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat today said it is the responsibility of teachers to inculcate moral values among children to build a strong nation.
The main objective of education is to produce good human beings by ensuring overall development of children, he said.
Devvrat awarded 16 teachers at a state-level Teacher's Day function at Raj Bhavan here. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was also present at the event.
"Teaching is a noble profession. Teachers' conduct, character and thoughts influence students and therefore, they should be honest and sincere and act as role model," the governor said and paid tribute to former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary today.
The day is celebrated in his honour.
He urged the teachers to make students aware about the core values of our culture and history, and inculcate the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
