Independent candidate goes on fast

: An independent candidate today went on a fast here against alleged negligence of officials in not ensuring that ballot paper posters outside polling booths had his picture.
S Vel, who contested the May 16 assembly polls on behalf of Tamil Nadu Vannar Peravai (Washermen's federation), at Madurai Central constituency, alleged that the posters put up outside the booths in his constiuency did not have his picture, but of someone else.
Officials were holding talks with him to try and persuade him to give up his fast.
