India A played out a 1-1 draw with Northern Territory in the 2017 Women's Australian Hockey League here today.

Both the teams began the match with strong display of skill and a well-structured game but it was Northern Territory, which took the early 1-0 lead when Brooke Peris scored a field goal in the 15th minute.

Though India were put on the back foot, it didn't stop the young team, comprising players Under 23 years of age, pushing for an opportunity to score.

One such manoeuvre while trying to penetrate into the opponent's circle saw Northern Territory concede a penalty stroke.

Gagandeep Kaur was at ease when she put the ball behind Elizabeth Duguid to score the equaliser for India in the 22nd minute.

The next two quarters saw both the teams play defensively.

Indian eves were seen rotating the ball among themselves and did well to keep the Northern Territory forwards from making successful forays in the circle.

They played a composed game to eventually end up splitting the match points with the Australians.

India A will next take on Australian Capital Territory tomorrow.
