India asks nationals to refrain from travelling to Yemen

With the UN raising the humanitarian crisis level of Yemen to the highest rung, India today asked its nationals to refrain from travelling to the strife-torn country.
"The security situation in Yemen continues to be fragile. The United Nations has raised the humanitarian crisis level of Yemen to the highest rung. Shortages of food items, cooking gas, diesel, petrol etc continue and water and electricity supply are also severely affected.
"Conflict and bombings still continue and Government of India has already issued an advisory for avoiding travel to Yemen for its nationals. Since it will still take time for normalcy to return to Yemen, Indian nationals are once again advised to refrain from undertaking travel to Yemen," External Affairs Ministry said.

The UN has declared its highest-level humanitarian emergency in conflict-torn Yemen, where its estimated more than 80 per cent of the population now needs assistance.
UN agencies say air strikes and ground fighting have killed more than 1,400 civilians since March and displaced over a million amid shortages of fuel and medical supplies. The World Health Organisation says 3,083 people have died and 14,324 have been wounded in the conflicts taking place there for months now.
Earlier this year, India had evacuated more than 5000 of its nationals from the strife-torn country.
