India open account in Shillong with one gold, one bronze
Press Trust of India Shillong Y Sapna Devi and Anjul Namdeo today clinched a gold and bronze respectively in wushu to open India's account from the Shillong leg of the 12th South Asian Games co-hosted by Assam and Meghalaya.
Sapna Devi displayed her excellence with a huge margin in point against the two medallists.
Sapna Devi dished out a fine display to win the gold with a huge margin as she secured 9.45 points to emerge champion in the women's taolu (Changquan) event at the Rising Sun Sports Complex, Assam Rifles, in Laitkor.
The silver went to Susmita Tamang of Nepal with a score of 8.72 while Pakistan's Nazia Parvaiz, with a score of 6:30, settled for bronze.
The men's taolu (Changquan) event on the other hand went down the wire as Namdeo had to settle for a bronze with 8:66 points behind Nepalese Bijay Sinjali's 8.80 and P L H Lakshan who won the gold with 8:86.
