Jammu and Kashmir's Opposition party, the National Conference (NC), today appealed to India and Pakistan to shun differences and initiate result-oriented talks on the Kashmir issue.
The BJP-led government at the Centre is not serious. In spite of having a clear majority in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party have failed to deliver on the grounds when it comes to changing the current narrative on Kashmir, NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar told a one-day party convention at block Habba Kadal here.
Sagar said the prime minister has the power to bring all the stakeholders on board and effectively deal with the situation as he appealed to the two nations to shun their differences and initiate result-oriented talks on Kashmir.
The frequent LoC, IB skirmishes between the two neighbours have never yielded anything other than killing of innocents on both sides. It is therefore time to end the hostility between India and Pakistan. Both countries should sit across the table and resolve their differences peacefully, he said.
He said the people of Kashmir were the main sufferers of the hostilities between the two countries.
Both the countries need to understand that we are the main sufferers of the conflict and any attempt made by the two countries to end the hostility will be warmly welcomed by National Conference which has always been an advocate of dialogue, Sagar said.
