India pledges NPR 48.63 million for Nepal police hostel

India today pledged to provide NPR 48.63 million to construct a hostel building for a police school in Nepal's capital.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae laid the foundation stone for the construction of girls' hostel building for Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) School situated in Kathmandu under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme.
Established in 2006, Nepal APF School situated in Champadevi village in the south of Kathmandu, does not have any girls' hostel facility.
Girls coming to study in the school from remote areas face problems for their lodging.
"The new hostel building being constructed with India's assistance of NPR (Nepali rupees) 48.63 million will provide hostel facilities to over 200 girl students of the school," a press release issued by the Indian Embassy here said.
India has also provided one school bus to the school.

Addressing the function, Rae said that the various projects being executed under the Economic Cooperation Programme will help the people of Nepal in their quest towards peace and prosperity.
In addition to this school, four projects in Kathmandu District have already been completed with Indian assistance.
Work is ongoing on 14 small development projects at a cost of NPR 492.9 million. India has also gifted 33 ambulances, 28 school buses and 3 special medical vans to various organisations in Kathmandu, the release said.
Besides this, India has also undertaken the construction of Trauma Centre in Kathmandu at an estimated cost of NPR 160 crores, it said.
