India Red thump India Green women by 8 wickets
Press Trust of India Mysore Poonam Raut struck an unbeaten half-century and shared an unconquered 77-run stand with Madhusmita Behera (29) as India Red women criused to a comfortable eight-wicket win over India Greens via VJD method in a rain-affected match of the Senior Women Challenger tournament, here today.
Electing to bat, India Greens were all out for 125 in 47.2 overs as none of the batswoman could make a significant contribution.
Skipper Taniya Bhatia (17) and Sushree Pradhan (17) got starts but could not make it big.
India Red's Rajeshwari Gayakwad (4/25) took four wickets while Shijha Pandey (3/21) accounted for three rival batters.
Rain affected the India Red chase and they were set a revised target of 116 in 46 overs. They overhauled the target in 31 overs, reaching 119 for 2, thanks to Poonam and Madhusmita's splendid batting.
