Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said the BJP government at the Centre has been responding effectively to cross-border firing by Pakistan unlike the previous UPA government's response.
Singh said he has directed BSF to respond properly to such firings by the Pakistani side along the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
"One day, I switched on the TV at 11.30 to discover that 5 of our soldiers were martyred at the border. I called up the BSF Incharge to take a stock of the situation. He told me that we showed them the white flag for 16 times but they did not stop firing.
"I asked him to explain about the white flag and he told me that it signifies that we want talks or dialogue. When asked the reason for this, he told me that this is a tradition going on from the Congress regime.
"I ordered him not to show the white flag for the 17th time and told him to take necessary actions. It is only after this that there was an aftermath and the issue was raked up at the United Nations by Pakistan," Singh said addressing an election rally Tuglaqabad.
Singh also slammed AAP for "untimely" resignation of Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister of Dafter remaining in power for just 49 days.
Asking the people to support BJP, he said a stable government was necessary to ensure good governance in national capital.

"Had AAP been in opposition and sat in protest, it would have been acceptable because in a democracy everybody has a right to protest. But being a Chief Minister, how can one sit on dharna?" Singh said.
"Delhi does not need a government of a party which holds dharna. It needs a party which will give good governance," said Singh.
He accused AAP of compromising its "stand for the greed of power" and taking Congress'support to form a government.
"In order to enjoy power, AAP which had always sworn that it will never take the support of Congress, took its backing to come to power," he said.
He alleged that AAP has always tried to mislead the people of Delhi while BJP always believes in "straightforward politics."
Singh appealed to Delhiites to give BJP complete majority and make Kiran Bedi the Chief Minister. "Kiran bedi is a clean lady", he said.
