IXL is a crossword-solving competition that leverages the web to make it easy for enthusiasts across India to compete against each other and to win a berth for the grand finale, an IXL statement said.
In the inaugural edition's grand finale, Bengaluru has the largest number of finalists with seven, Mumbai has two, and Delhi and Kolkata one each.
Tomorrow also marks the centenary of Crosswords. Created by Arthur Wynne, the first-known published crossword puzzle appeared on December 21, 1913, in the Sunday issue of the New York World.
At the grand finale, all participants will compete afresh and will not only have to solve cryptic crosswords, but also make crossword clues and crack puzzles and mind games, the statement added.
