India's first 24-hours matrimonial channel Shagun, which will feature various pre-nuptial and post-nuptial programmes, was launched here today.
A venture of Nodia based company Vertent Media, the channel has feature shows related to wedding, astrology, relationships, shopping and will be hosted by TV actors Manini Mishra, Richa Soni, Utkarsha Naik among others.
"We are planning to engage the audience with pre-nuptial and post-nuptial programmes and provide relevant information in an entertaining way," said Anuranjan Jha, MD, Shagun.
"Though the channel is exclusively dedicated to matrimonial programmes, it will also beam out programmes related to lifestyle and entertainment. The channel will also cater to everyone- right from youngsters to the elders," Jha added.
In their first phase, the channel will air programmes like 'Zindagi Shadi Se Pehle Shadi Ke Baad', 'To Baat Pakki', 'Gold and Beautiful', 'Honeymoon Travels', 'Janam Janam ka Sath', 'Kundali Bole' and 'Roopamti'.
"I am hosting a show in this channel. This channel is entirely different because we will be showing programmes without chopping off the realities," said Richa Soni of 'Bhagyavidhaata' fame.

The Hindi channel will also be bringing the bride and groom under one roof through their programmes.
"We will ensure complete involvement of the parents from the very first stage and never give a room for fraud practices," Jha said.
The channel will be launched from May 1.
"We are planning to launch the channel through Videocon DTH and later extend to other players," Jha added.
