Playing well throughout the match, Mehta won with good safety play towards the end. His highest break during the game was 64 in frame 2.
He will now play against Karam Fatima of Syria tomorrow.
Earlier yesterday, Mehta had defeated Pakistan national Champ Muhammad Asif 4-2. Initially trailing 1-2, the Indian pro soon recovered with breaks of 87 and 68 to go up 3-2.
Both players missed a couple of chances in the last frame and it came down to a tactical battle of colours.
Mehta still has four more matches to go. Only two of the seven players will qualify into the last 16 after which it gets into a knock-out format
