Coal contributed the highest to the kitty at Rs 6,289 crore, followed by petroleum Rs 5,849 crore, iron ore Rs 2,193 crore, natural gas Rs 2,273 crore, lignite Rs 336 crore and limestone Rs 437 crore.
"These six minerals together contributed about 95 per cent of the total value of mineral production in October 2014," the statement said.
During the month, coal production was at 497 lakh tonnes, lignite 30 LT, natural gas (utilised) 2748 million cu. M. And petroleum (crude) 32 LT among others. India produced 98 LT iron ore during the month.
"The production of important minerals showing positive growth during October 2014 over October 2013 include magnesite 67.6 per cent, coal 16.8 per cent, limestone 6.8 per cent and lignite 2.6 per cent," it said.
