India should strive to become a "super nation" and not a "super power", RSS executive head Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi said Friday while asserting that the country should guide the world to make the society better.

Addressing the India Ideas Conclave organised by India Foundation here, he said whenever Indians have stepped out, they have done so "not to take something but to give".

"We should strive become a super nation and not a super power. We don't have to rule over the world, we should try and become 'vishwa guru' to guide the world towards a better society," Joshi said.

He said citizens want a secure and strong India but India has "never been hegemonistic".

He also said that there should be multiplicity of thought and power. "That is the core of new India."
Underlining the importance of values in the country, the RSS general secretary said, "Constitution is important as it safeguards people. But values and ethics make our land unique and a culturally- rich society."
