India and Sudan today held a Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) during which the two sides discussed key bilateral issues, including security cooperation.
"Engaging Africa, abroad and at home! While Vice President visits Rwanda, Minister of State M J Akbar co-chairs JCM with Sudan Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour in Delhi," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
Though no official details were available about the JCM, it is understood that the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in important areas of security and trade.
Energy is a key component of India-Sudan ties, with ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) owning 25 per cent stake in Greater Nile Petroleum Company.
OVL has invested USD 2.5 billion in oil assets across Sudan and South Sudan.
