'India, Tanzania should work closely in research, training'

India and Tanzania should work together in the area of research and training, sharing best practices, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said today.
He suggested this at a meeting with a delegation from the African nation led by his counterpart - Labour and Employment minister of Tanzania, Gaudentia M Kabaka.
"Both the countries should work together in the field of research and training programme so that best practices can be shared by the officials and for possibilities of signing MoU be explored," the minister said as per the press release.
The visiting delegation that included four other ministers and five senior officers of Tanzania met Dattatreya to discuss social security issues.
He highlighted the endeavour of the government to safeguard the interest of the workforce in the country and to provide social security to the weaker sections of the society.
Dattatreya also highlighted various benefits available to organised and unorganised sector workers under the various labour laws administered by Labour Ministry.

The delegation also visited Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, where a detailed presentation was made by Central Provident Fund Commissioner K K Jalan on the social security schemes run by the retirement fund body.
Employees' State Insurance Corporation also made a presentation on the medical facilities provided under the Scheme.
The two sides shared their experiences and challenges in providing social security.
