To further improve relations between India and Thailand, there was a need to enhance the visits of Buddhists scholars, monks and other spiritual leaders between the two countries, Princess of Thailand Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura said here today.
"India and Thailand share common culture and tradition and Buddhism travelled to Thailand thousands of years back and is now flourishing. If we enhance our exchanges of Buddhist scholars and monks and other religious and spiritual leaders on a permanent basis, it would help in better understanding between the two countries," she said.
The princess, who is on a visit to the city, said the teachings of Buddha are strictly followed in Thailand and hence she felt at home in Nagpur, where Babasaheb Ambedkar had embraced Buddhism in 1957.
She visited many religious places and Buddha vihars in and around the city and expressed interest in the upcoming Buddhist theme park.
She also said that she wanted to be part of the project and assured that she would provide some funding.
Replying to a query, the princess said, "Our government is stable and there is no danger to democracy."
