India will make a special request to the Asian Games Organising Committee to include the two sailors who have been allowed to represent the country by the Delhi High Court at their own personal cost.
Sailors -- Diya Anna Correa and Upmanyu Dutta -- had filed a petition in the High Court seeking to allow them to take part in the ongoing Asian Games against a decision of the government, which had barred their participation at no cost to the government.
A single judge of the High Court had ruled that the duo should be allowed to take part in the Games.
The two sailors were selected by their federation to take part in the Games and their accreditation cards have reached the Indian Olympic Association. But the sports ministry did not clear them on the ground that they are not medal prospects.
Indian contingent Chef-de-Mission Adille Sumirawala told PTI that he would make a personal request to the local Organising Committee to allow these two sailors to take part in the Games.
"The Delegates Registration Meeting is closed and we now have to make a request to the Organising Committee if we have to include additional members in our contingent," he said.
"I am getting a copy of the High Court judgment today and I will personally request the Organising Committee to include these two sailors in the Indian contingent," he added.

Sports Secretary Ajit Sharan said that the government will have to abide by the court judgment.
"It is a court judgment and we cannot do anything. We have to abide by the judgment," he said.
Rahul Mehra, the advocate who fought the case for the two sailors, said that it's now possible for other sportspersons selected for the Games to participate after knocking the door of the court.
"All those sportspersons struck down by the sports ministry can now petition in the courts and can cite their case to allow them also to take part in the Games at their personal costs," he said.
