In a statement issued here, the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry said this pledge was taken as part of the 'Child Survival Call to Action Forum' attended by Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, WCD Minister Krishna Tirath and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The forum aims to raise global awareness of child survival challenges, celebrate the 70 per cent reduction in child mortality over the past half-century and establish a global road-map to end preventable child deaths in a generation, the WCD statement said.
As part of the pledge, representatives of states reaffirmed their commitment to children welfare, and pledged their support for the global movement to end preventable child deaths, the statement added.
