Following complaints of ill-treatment of Indian workers, the Indian Mission asked employers to cooperate in ensuring the safety, security and well-being of their labourers.
"In order to curb this practice which are also contrary to the laws and regulations of Malaysia, the Indian High Commission has decided that in cases where there is an evidence of abuse and ill-treatment, the employers responsible will be withdrawn the privileges which the Indian Government has extended to them, like PIO card, visas etc," a statement issued by the Indian mission here said.
The High Commission, on its website, said that it is working very closely with the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources to try and address their grievances so that such abuses are curtailed and remedial actions taken.
"We thank the Government of Malaysia for their cooperation in this matter," the statement said.
