"When I talk about Subash Chandra Bose, there will be many here who reminisce him and his memories," said Modi while addressing a programme organised by Japan-India Association.
Modi also acknowledged a 93-year-old man in the audience for his closeness to Bose.
"I have asked the ambassador (Deepa Wadhwa) that a highly professional video team will be with him (93-year-old Japanese man) for a month to record the accounts of people who have been close to Bose, we should take these historic ties forward," he said on the fourth-day of his visit.
During the Second World War, Bose joined hands with the Japanese in Myanmar to drive the British out of the sub continent.
Bose died on August 18, 1945 in Taiwan after suffering serious injuries in a plane crash towards the end of World War II.
Modi is on a five-day visit to Japan to build the strategic relationship between the two countries.
