Indian Army chief Bikram Singh in Nepal

Singh, who is in Nepal on the invitation of Nepal Army chief Gen Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, will call on President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai tomorrow.

This is Singh's first visit to a foreign country after he assumed charge.

He will begin his visit by laying a wreath at Bir Smarak at the Nepal Army (NA) Pavilion at Tundikhel in the heart of the capital city and will later hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Gen Gurung.

President Yadav will confer the title of honorary general of Nepalese Army on Singh at a ceremony at Shital Niwas, a reciprocal gesture practiced by both countries since 1965.

Singh will also pay a visit to Nepal Army's training centres including the Birendra Peacekeeping Training Center at Panchkhal visit and the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Mustang.

He will also inspect the Indian Army Pension Camp and Nepal Army Western Divisional Headquarters in Pokhara on Thursday, officials at the Nepal Army Headquarters said.

He is also scheduled to visit the birth place of Lord Buddha in Lumbini and also address the 19th command and staff course cadets on Friday, before wrapping up his five day visit.
