After a couple of comprehensive wins, L Sarita Devi (60kg) tasted defeat as Indian boxers wrapped up their training-cum-competition trip to the Chinese city of Qian'an with mixed results today.
Asian Games bronze-medallist Sarita, who recorded victories against boxers from Mongolia and Korea, lost 0-3 to China's Yin Junhua. The Manipuri thus managed to secure decent results in her maiden competitive assignment after serving out a one-year ban for her emotional outburst at last year's Asian Games.
Commonwealth Games bronze-medallist Pinki Jangra (51kg) also ended the trip on a disappointing note, losing 0-3 to Chang Yuan.
Among the men, Asian Championships silver-medallist Vikas Krishan (75kg) defeated Zhao Minggan 3-0. Gaurav Bidhuri (52kg), the lone Indian boxer to fetch a World Series of Boxing contract this season, also won, getting the better of Hu Jiangun.
However, World Championships bronze-medallist Shiva Thapa (52kg) and Commonwealth Games silver-medallist L Devendro Singh (49kg) lost their respective bouts. While Gaurav went down to L V Bin, Shiva was beaten by Zang Jiawei.
Manish Kaushik (60kg), Amritpreet Singh (91kg), and Narender (+91kg) also won their respective bouts on the last day of the trip.
The other teams which participated in the training-cum-competition event were Thailand, Mongolia and Korea.
