Indian boys go down 0-3 to Russia in junior Davis Cup

Garvit Batra and Sumit Nagal lost their singles as India suffered a 0-3 thrashing at the hands of top seeded Russia in their opening tie of the junior Davis Cup finals, here today.
Batra, who has combined ranking of 196, began the Indian campaign and lost the opening singles 3-6 3-6 to Andrey Rublev, who has ranking of 33.
The onus to bring Indian back in the Group A tie was on Nagal but he lost tamely 3-6 1-6 to Roman Safiullin.
Having lost the tie, India could not even record a consolation win as the pair of Nagal and Sahil Deshmukh lost 3-6 3-6 to Rublev and Evgeny Tyurnev.
India next play Argentina. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
